Healthy Eating in Primary Schools


Target Audience
Anyone involved in the delivery, co-ordination or support of subjects involving Healthy Eating or has links with the school council or food sales

Overview
Healthy Eating continues to be under the spotlight with the 2005 food based standards in School Meals moving towards nutrition based standards for 2008 and the introduction of non-lunch food standards in September 2007e.g. tuck shops. 

 This course will enable you to have a better understanding of these changes and where healthy eating fits into the curriculum.  
 Provision and encouragement as a whole school approach will be explored e.g. how to promote healthier lunchboxes, snacks, tuck shops with participation from pupils and parents.
 The day will also include the basic principles of Health Eating; balance of good health, oral health and food hygiene

We will be moving around for some activities, please wear comfortable clothing

Learning Outcomes
The course aims to help participants to identify the healthy eating priorities in their school, know why and how to begin to make whole school changes to meet these.
