The course starts in September. Supply cover is paid for teachers, and back fill for community nurses, to cover the 4 1/2 training days that are required/encouraged as part of the course. The first portfolio day in September is a really important day as this will not only lay the ground work for the reflective nature of the course but also provide candidates with the knowledge of how to build their evidence portfolio. Difference and Diversity training is a compulsory element of the course and candidates must attend this course EITHER in Autumn or Spring. The other portfolio days in Autumn, Spring and Summer will be an opportunity to sit with colleagues and supporters and to look through the evidence that you have collected and ensure that it meets the needs of the standards and the assessor. Support will be provided by the Health Promoting Schools team. A half day supply cover/back fill is provided for these days but candidates are free to attend all day if they can negotiate this with their employers. Candidates are also strongly encouraged to attend a further, paid, training day from the Health Promoting Schools menu of courses, to develop their confidence and competence to deliver a variety of topics in relation to PSHE. Please see the training programme on the website. |
