Firstly, the complex job of the Midday Supervisor is discussed, which brings a positive start to the session as the multitude of skills required to perform in the job is celebrated.
Key issues affecting lunchtimes are discussed and explored, aiming to make the job more manageable and effective. The behaviour policy in school is discussed, and the use of positive language, rewards and sanctions examined, with the aim of raising the profile of the Midday Supervisors through effective behaviour management. The organisation of the playground is assessed, and ideas for improvement discussed, and particularly for encouraging active playtimes by organising games and zoning areas of the playground.
The Midday Supervisors are given a training pack and awarded a certificate from Health Promoting Schools on completion of the training. Learning OutcomesThe Midday Supervisor Training programme aims to examine school practice to help make lunchtimes happy and healthy for all!
