Train the Trainer in Peer Buddy Programmes


Target Audience
Primary & Secondary PSHE practitioners who wish to establish Peer systems in their school.

Overview
This course will provide an opportunity for practitioners who wish to provide their own training to buddies/ peer listeners within school to learn about the HPS training programme currently delivered by the HPS team in Derbyshire schools.

Delegates will receive a free copy of the HPS training CD, which containsthe training programme and resources required for setting up a scheme for training the young people within school.


Other Details
Please wear comfortable clothing.

Course Outline
Delegates will experience for themselves different activities selected from the training programme and develop their own skills in delivering this training to children and young people. Delegates will discuss ways in which a scheme can be set up within school.

The buddy/peer listener training programme covers the following objectives, and is delivered within the Circle Time philosophy. 


 Assessing children’s own emotions and behaviour, to support the development of their skills in supporting others
 Developing co-operation skills
 Identifying skills and qualities required for the role of buddy/ peer listener
 Improving listening and questioning skills
 Dealing with difficult issues and how to incorporate child protection understanding

Learning Outcome
To allow trainers to experience the skills required, and to gain confidence in delivering the buddy/ peer listener training programme within school.
