 Policy Development


What should be included?

In this section you will find guidance for writing your own PSHE, SRE, Drugs Education, Drugs Incident, Anti-Bullying, Food and Physical Activity policies. You will also find guidance for the process of policy consultation.

The content of any school policy needs to be relevant to the school’s context and local need. The model policies and the guidance provided on how to develop a policy is very similar for both primary and secondary schools. The guidance provided here reflects that.

Is support available?

Derbyshire Healthy Schools has model policies that can be obtained from the appropriate healthy schools adviser for your school. The adviser will also offer you support to help you develop your policies.

There are several exceptions to this. These are the model Smoke Free policy, Confidentiality policy and External Contributors policy and these can be accessed directly from either clicking the document icons or the links below.
