Course Outline• What is SRE at Key Stage Two? Looking at cultural influences on children and young people regarding SRE.• Creating a curriculum. Exploring the’ age appropriate’ knowledge, skills and attitudes that need to be addressed.• Exploring resources. We will look at a range of resources and activities for use in the classroom.• Whole school approach- consulting all stakeholders. How to support parents in this area of their child’s development.• Sensitive issues- what questions do children ask? How do we respond? SRE in the ethos of the school.
Learning Outcome• Participants will leave with a developed understanding of the legal requirement for an SRE policy at KS2 and a thorough model of an effective policy development process.• They will have reflected on children’s needs and how to development a meaningful and relevant curriculum. • They will have explored Ofsted recommendations for outcomes in SRE and viewed a range of up to date age appropriate resources.
