Puppets in Practice 

Target Audience

Infant, Primary and Special School Staff who want to introduce a dynamic, versatile, memorable and fun resource into the classroom.

Overview

This course will provide you with imaginative ways of using puppets in the classroom.  Whether you are a novice, have limited experience or want to further develop the use of puppets, this course will help to increase your confidence and allow you to practice using puppets in a safe environment. 

You will learn about best practice when using puppets;

• how to introduce puppets to children,
• handling puppets
• communicating with puppets 
• expression of feelings.

The course will include ideas for the use of puppets to supplement the curriculum, PSHE and Emotional Health & Well-being. 

As well as fabric puppets, making and using simple cardboard ‘talker’ puppets and their uses will be included.   Due to their practicality and versatility both you and your class can effectively use these puppets for many outcomes.

Other Details

Puppets available for loan from our resources library will be used during the course, if you have your own puppet please bring them along to the training. The course is run in a relaxed atmosphere, please wear comfortable clothing.

1. Increase confidence in handling puppets.
2. Provide ideas for using puppets in enhance teaching and learning.
3. Develop skills in using puppets as communication tools.
4. Increase awareness of best practise using puppets.
