Developing a Whole School Food Policy Twilight

A consistent approach is required to meet the healthy eating core theme of the National Healthy Schools Status (NHHS).  Involving the whole school community in the development of a Food Policy is a great way of working out what approach everyone is going to follow around food in school.  Twilight staff training is a good opportunity to update knowledge of healthy eating messages, national food standards and the requirements of the NHHS in this core theme.

A twilight training session would generally consist of a game to introduce healthy eating messages in an active way and some scenario work to encourage discussion of several healthy eating issues that can occur in schools in order to arrive at a whole school approach to these issues.
