National and Local Initiatives Related to Physical Activity

There are national and local initiatives that support the work of Healthy Schools. Some of the initiatives are directly linked to the criteria for National Healthy Schools Status (NHSS).  Criteria 3.6 Schools Sports Co-ordinator, requires a representative in school to attend School Sports Partnership network meetings and utilise the Physical Education and School Sport Club Link (PESSCL) materials. Criteria 3.7 Encouraging walking & cycling to school, requires schools to be engaged with the representatives from the School Travel Plan team and have begun the process for developing a school travel plan in school.
