The Validation Process
In January 2007, the National Healthy Schools Programme adopted a self-validation process within a quality assurance process. The aim was to minimise bureaucracy, maximise consistency, increase participation and maintain rigour.
The role of the local programme, Derbyshire Healthy Schools, is to support schools through the process of achieving National Healthy School Status. We do this in two main ways:
- Offering professional support to schools- Carrying out our work within the quality assurance process
fun activities at the award ceremony.
Status is held by a school for 3 years, after which it will need to re-validate. Schools will be expected to review their activity after 2 years, in preparation for the re-validation process. The Derbyshire Healthy Schools supporter will maintain contact with the school, to offer ongoing support in maintaining and developing healthy school activity.
The local programmes are required to moderate 10% of schools that have self-validated. For further information, please download any of the following documents.
